ALERT

ALERT (Amenity Lifeline Emergency Response Team) is a volunteer-driven Indian NGO that makes the “Right to Life” real by training everyday people to act in emergencies. Founded in 2006, ALERT focuses on first aid, CPR, and Golden-Hour response—through online modules, classroom workshops, and hands-on simulation labs.

Why ALERT stands out
ALERT is a rare NGO that works at every level to drive real, lasting change. They pair policy advocacy with on-the-ground action—community engagement, government-mandated trainings, ongoing recertification, and strong infrastructure like simulation labs and public AEDs. This “policy-to-practice” model turns awareness into systems change and makes the Golden Hour response a habit, not a hope.

Vision & Mission
Train one first responder in every family and strengthen India’s emergency-care ecosystem, including policy thought-leadership in emergency care.

What they do

  • Run first-aid & CPR trainings for schools, colleges, companies, and communities (including free “Savior Saturday” sessions).

  • Offer e-learning via ALERT Academy and practical drills via simulation labs.

  • Build youth volunteer chapters (Alert Golden Army) to spread lifesaving skills.

  • Host ALERTathon, an annual awareness and fundraiser run to promote a first-responder culture.

  • Work with CSR partners on Public Access Defibrillators (PAD) in communities like Coimbatore.

Where they work
Head office in Chennai, with branches in Bengaluru, Coimbatore, and Puducherry.

Projects CGI could help with:

1) Public Access Defibrillators (PAD/AED) Network

What it is: AEDs are portable devices that analyze heart rhythm and deliver a shock during sudden cardiac arrest. When used quickly—ideally within 2–5 minutes—survival can jump dramatically (reports up to ~70% when used very early).

Why it matters in India: Bystander CPR/AED use is very low (often ~1–10%), so getting PADs into public spaces plus training is crucial.
Local momentum: ALERT has begun PAD installs in Covai (e.g., Vagarayampalayam PHC, 2025).

CGI scope & cost: Target 25 PADs; 6 already in place (per your note) → 19 more × â‚¹2,00,000 ≈ ₹38,00,000.

2) Simulation Lab – Covai

What it is: A hands-on training facility that uses manikins/tech to practice first aid, CPR, and Golden-Hour response in realistic scenarios. Simulation improves performance, confidence, and error reduction; it also helps knowledge retention over time.

Why it matters: Faster, better decisions in the first hour after trauma save lives (“golden hour” concept).

CGI scope & cost: ₹50,00,000 (setup).

3) Smart Siren / Traffic-Signal Priority for Ambulances

What it is: Tech that “preempts” signals so ambulances get green lights along the route (EVPS). Trials in India show meaningful time reductions and safer, faster transit.

Why it matters: Minutes lost in traffic cost lives in trauma and cardiac emergencies.

CGI scope & cost: 30 ambulances × â‚¹1,00,000 = ₹30,00,000 (on-vehicle units; city integration required).

4) Sponsor “Golden Army” Outreach Sessions

What it is: ALERT’s youth/volunteer program that takes first-aid/CPR awareness into campuses and communities.

CGI scope & cost: ₹15,000 per session.
